RAO UES of Russia intends to complete development of seven projects on construction of small hydropower plants in Karachaevo-Cherkessia and submit them for consideration of private businessmen by the end of March, 2007, the energy holding company's CEO, Anatoly Chubais told reporters. He took part in the commissioning ceremony at the third production complex that completes construction of a cascade of Zelenchuk hydropower mini-plants. He said that "construction of each plant costs from USD 2 to 7-10 million". The main task for the private business will be provision of investments, while RAO UES of Russia will take care of program development and construction of the small hydropower plants. Local business will be mainly enlisted for investments. According to RAO UES of Russia CEO, the share of private capital may reach 50-75 percent and up to 100 percent. Speaking on the general situation in electric power engineering, Chubais noted that "during three years from 2004 to 2006, the growth of the electric power prices was lower than inflation rates". "Our task now is to move forward, and the level of the electric power prices can't be lower", he underlined. |
