Transition to "daylight time" this year will enable Russia to save up to two billion kilowatts-hour of electricity during this period, Tatiana Miliaeva, deputy director of the RAO UES media relations department, told RIA Novosti on Friday. Transition to "daylight time" will be performed on the night of 25 March. The stated economy is comparable in size with the amount of power consumed by 10,000 households during eight years, according to Ms Miliaeva. "In addition, reduced power consumption will enable fuel economy and therefore have a significant effect on the environment," the RAO UES spokeswoman said. |
