The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Energy announced that the production of electric power in Russia in January-July 2007 increased by 0.7% over the same period of 2006 and totaled 578.43 bln kWh. Thermal power plants produced 373.46 bln kWh (a 2.9% decrease against January-July 2006); hydroelectric power plants produced 112.23 bln kWh (a growth of 12.7%); nuclear power plants - 92.5 bln kWh (an increase of 2.7%). Preliminary estimates show that power consumption in January-July this year amounted to 572.9 bln kWh, which is 1.6% higher than in the same period of last year. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the production of electric power in Russia in 2006 increased by 4% versus 2005 reaching 991 bln kWh. At the same time, the data available at the Ministry of Industry and Energy cites the figure of 991.42 bln kWh. Besides, the Ministry forecasted an increase in electric power production in Russia in 2007 of 4.8% - to 1.0394 bln kWh. |
