Increasingly more emphasis in the Russian power industry is being laid on using investment rather than attracting it, RAO UES of Russia Management Board Chairman Anatoly Chubais said at an investment forum in Sochi. "Attracting investment is in its way a stage that has been passed. It is now important to work out mechanisms for using investment: from receiving money to contracts," said Mr Chubais. He also said that at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin they discussed development of the nation's power industry, its potential and evolution directions. "We are currently in a situation when demand is high, but we cannot keep up with it. However, the power industry development strategy that we have chosen will allow us to reduce the gap," said Mr Chubais at his meeting with the Russian President. He also added that in prospect the second stage of Sochi Heat and Power Plant will be commissioned, and the Adler and Novorossiysk HPPs will be built, as well as a combined cycle power plant in Krasnodar. "We need closer co-ordination between what we have in our plans and the overall plans of the regions," noted Mr Chubais. |
