Enel Confirms Interest in WGC-5, WGC-4

Italy's Enel has confirmed its interest in participating in the capital of two Russian wholesale generating companies, WGC-4 and WGC-5. "We are currently considering investment in WGC-5 and WGC-4," Andrea Brentan, Enel's Head of Business Development – International Division, said at the Russian Economic Forum in London.

Power Generation in Russia to Rise 1.9% to 1,010.6Bn kWh in 2007, Economic Development Ministry Estimates

Power generation in Russia will grow 1.9 per cent to 1,010.6 billion kWh in 2007, according to the forecast of Russia's socio-economic development in 2008 published by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of the Russian Federation, estimated parameters for the period to 2010 and maximum levels of prices /tariffs/ for products /services/ of natural monopolies.

Govt Willing to Sell Russia’s Largest Generating Facilities Contractor

Russia’s government is going to sell Tekhpromexport, a major state-owned company that constructs generating facilities, in 2008. The company’s management notes, however, that Tekhpromexport was entered on the privatization list in the run-up to its IPO in London in 2008. Tekhpromexport still has to double its cost before going public.

Russia Begins Construction of a Series of Floating Atomic Power Stations – Head of Rosatom

Russia has begun construction work on a series of floating atomic power stations, according to the Head of Rosatom, Sergei Kirienko. The statement was made at the official ceremony to celebrate the building of the first floating atomic power station in Severodvinsk.
