On 24 August 2009, total amount of power generated by thermoelectric power stations of Volga TGC (a part of IES-Holding) reached 100 billion kWh. This result was achieved during almost 4 years of the company's operation. Volga TGC was founded on 1 August 2005. Volga TGC is the second largest regional power generating company in terms of installed capacity. Its power stations are located in the Samara Region, Saratov Region, Ulyanovsk Region and Orenburg Region. Since the first day of operation Volga TGC has been successfully pursuing a strategy aimed at enhancing efficiency of heat production and power generation. To this purpose a special division was created within the company's structure, which coordinated the work of the company's twenty thermoelectric power stations, as well as wholesale power sale and fuel purchasing for the power generating plants. Since Volga TGC has become a part of IES-Holding, these functions lie in the responsibility zone of the Samara branch of IES-Trading, Ltd. ‘Our experience shows that combined production of heat and electric power has a number of irrefutable advantages over other types of power generation and it can be in great demand on a competitive market. Owing to its efficient wholesale power market operations Volga TGC can partially balance the negative effect of huge losses caused by customers' nonpayment for consumed heat," says Andrey Bukhtiyarov, Director of the Samara branch of IES-Trading, Ltd. 100 billion kWh of electric energy generated by Volga TGC is enough for production of: - about 5.8 million tons of non-ferrous metals (for example, aluminum); - about 6.5 million tons of synthetic fibers, plastic materials and other products. Volga TGC supplies electric power to companies and households located all over the Samara Region, Saratov Region, Ulyanovsk Region, Orenburg Region, and also to some neighboring regions. |
