Teams of IES-Holding generation divisions will take part in the All-Russian competition of HPP operations staff to be held September 6-11, 2009 in Stavropol Training Center, in the town of Essentuki. The competition pursues the following goals: to reduce accidents caused by personnel misoperation, increase professional standards, and promote best practice.
The competition will involve personnel working at heat and power plants (HPP) with lateral links. Unlike unit-type plants, all boilers at HPP feed the common steam chest, which powers all turbines. Such plants are the backbone of power generating facilities of all regional power generating companies of IES-Holding, including Center Generation (TGC-6), Urals Generation (TGC-5 and TGC-9) and Volga Generation (VoTGC). The competition has 9 levels. Participants will have to demonstrate their knowledge of normative-technical documents, fire safety rules, readiness to carry out dispatcher's commands, technical knowledge, emergency preparedness and first-aid readiness. This year, 11 teams including three teams from IES-Holding are taking part in the All-Russian competition. Urals Generation Division will be represented by a team from Sosnogorskaya HPP, Center Generation Division - by a team from Vladimir HPP-2, and Volga Generation Division - by a team from Volga Automobile Plant HPP. ‘IES-Holding's heat and power plants now work in 16 regions of Russia. The company generates electric power and produces heat for more than 10 million customers in winter. It is technical and, foremost, social responsibility. We devote great attention to operational safety and professional training of operational staff to minimize ‘human factor' in accidents. Each division regularly examines and certificates their personnel. The best specialists take part in All-Russian competitions,' says Andrey Shishkin, IES-Holding First Vice President and Director of Operations. |
