A steady environmental security of the entire energy and gas industry is the strategic goal of IES Holding's Unified Environmental Policy. This document, together with the concept of realization of principles stipulated thereby for the period up to 2020, was approved by Mikhail Slobodin, President of CJSC IES.  "Nature preservation, environmental impact mitigation, and increasingly efficient use of nonrenewable natural resources are the priority issues of the Holding's Environmental Policy. They are also closely connected with the business development strategy and the company's technical policy", Slobodin underlined.
The IES environmental policy realization concept envisages elaboration and implementation of measures aimed at solving ecological safety problems, compliance with certain ecological indicators, and performing ecological control of the Holding's enterprises. This program consists of two stages. Up to 2012 the plan is to carry out ecological internal audits of the IES subordinate subdivisions, put in place a general environmental impact management, and implement several programs of achieving the adopted ecological indicators. These measures are to result in a significantly lower environmental impact of the Holding's enterprises. The second stage (up to 2020) coincides with the adoption of a new technological base, i.e. modernization of production through the construction of modern energy-efficient generating capacities. With the growth of the solid fuel (coal) portion in the balance of power plants and the installed capacity increase, the environmental actions must maintain the environmental impact at the basic level of the company in 2009. Handling the environmental policy problems will help create within the Holding an up-to-date environmental risk management system, raise the ecological culture of the industry, lower its energy and materials consumption, and ensure the company's balanced development.
