In the first 10 days of 2010, all power facilities of Volga TGC (Volga Generation Division of IES Holding) in Samara, Saratov, Ulyanovsk and Orenburg regions operated under normal conditions. Heat and electric energy supply to the consumers was effected in strict compliance with the contracts. No emergencies that could have an impact on energy supply were allowed. During this holiday season, CHPPs of Volga TGC produced almost 1,000,000,000 kWh of electric energy. Among the plants of Volga TGC, the greatest output belonged to VAZ (Volga Automobile plant) CHPP, one of the largest combined heat and power plants in Russia. In the first 10 days of the new year, it produced 179 million kWh of electric energy. In total, CHPPs and GRESs of Samara Region produced 452 million kWh of electric energy. It should be mentioned that the engineers had carefully prepared for operation in the period of holidays. They paid particular attention to reliability of power plants and heating mains at possibly low temperatures. All the facilities of Volga TGC had provided for backup fuel, such as fuel oil and coal. Troubleshooting of equipment was performed; external heat pipelines were examined to check their readiness for operation under critical load. Additional measures were taken to ensure fire safety of the facilities, stricter access and operation control was enforced, systems of communication with the Department of Emergency were inspected. |
