Aleksandr Kolokoltsev, the executive vice president of IES-Holding and head of the Generation Center Division spoke at the extended public meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities and Fuel and Energy Complex of the Nizhny Novgorod Region related to summarizing the 2009 results and setting the tasks for 2010. The meeting took place on February 19 and was attended by Vladimir Lebedev, deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and representatives of the regional authorities. According to Aleksandr Kolokoltsev, in 2009 the power plants of the Generation Center Division in the Nizhny Novgorod Region generated 5.3 billion kWh which is 8.7% less than in 2008. In 2009, the division's plants produced 6.3 million Gcal of heat power which is 5% less than in 2008. The drop in the electric and heat power production was due to the decreased demand in the context of the industrial production decline in 2009. Nevertheless, in the difficult economic situation the plants of the division were completely ready for operation during the autumn and winter period. The implementation of the priority Diadem investment program managed by IES-Holding in the Nizhny Novgorod Region continues within the schedule. In November 2009, Sormovo CHPP turbine unit No. 2 was commissioned in the framework of the Amber project. After modernization its installed power capacity has increased by 5 MW. The modernization of similar turbine unit No. 1 is scheduled for 2010. The total installed power capacity of Sormovo CHPP after modernization will reach 350 MW. Other IES-Holding investment projects in the region include the construction of 125 MW combined-cycle plants at Igumnovo CHPP (Quartz project) and 300 MW combined-cycle plants at Novogorkovskaya CHPP (Rubin project). In September 2009, Igumnovo CHPP received two GE gas-turbine units which will become part of a new power generating unit. Works on the projects will be continued in 2010. They will include tenders on purchasing basic equipment for the combined-cycle plants. |
