The exhibition "The Power of Victory: Soviet Power Engineering during World War II" in Moscow was organized by the Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia together with IES Holding. The exhibition is dedicated to the 65-th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and tells about power engineering during the war, in the postwar reconstruction period, and about the present day of the industry. The exhibition, opened in the museum-apartment of Gleb M. Krzhizhanovsky, is based on materials taken from the collections of the Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and local museums of IES-Holding's companies.
The exhibition presents posters of the 1940-1950s, photos, diplomas, certificates, orders and awards. Among other exhibits, there are documents of A.V. Vinter, an outstanding Russian electric power engineer, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1932), who played a key role in the construction of Shatura Steam Power Plant and Dnieper Hydroelectric Station (DneproHES). In 1943, he was appointed Head of the Technical Council of the USSR Ministry of Electric Power Stations, and in 1944 he became Deputy Director of the Power Engineering Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
Despite all wartime difficulties, research activity in the country did not come to a standstill during the war. The exposition provides documentary evidence of that: a report of Krzhizhanovsky Power Engineering Institute for 1944; memoirs of R.I Shneerova, one of the oldest staff members of the Institute; awards received by the founder of the Institute G.M. Krzhizhanovsky for organizing research work during the war.
Numerous photographs show power plants that operated in Russia during World War II. Among them one can see photos of Perm CHPP-6, Izhevsk CHPP-1, Kirov CHPP-3, and Samara SDPP, that are now part of IES Holding.
It is not accidental that IES Holding is the organizer and sponsor of the exhibition. IES Holding's companies cherish the traditions and history of their power stations, support museums and organize meetings with veterans. IES Holding supports 2,582 retired war veterans, wartime workers and Nazi victims who were employees of the company.
